The Middle Atlantic District Baton Twirlers have secured a place in the Miss America Parade.

Diane George, the AAU Middle Atlantic Baton Twirling Chair will have around 40 twirlers, who will be marching in the parade in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  Diane has informed us that Philadelphia's Channel 6 will carry the parade.

Diane and her twirlers are equipped with an AAU banner and hope that this will bring a lot of positive attention to the AAU and the AAU Baton Twirling Program.

As you read below, this is a great event and we are proud of our AAU Members for their participation in it.

With the 2015 Miss America Pageant on ABC coming up soon on Sunday, September 14,at 9:00 p.m. EST, broadcast from Atlantic City, New Jersey, that means it is also almost time for the annual Miss America Show Us Your Shoes Parade, on Saturday, September 13! The parade, which begins in front of historic Boardwalk Hall at Connecticut Avenue and lasts from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., is two miles long and it draws almost as much excitement as the Miss America competition, itself.

The Miss America Show Us Your Shoes Parade would not last for very long if only the 53 Miss America Pageant contestants were in it. In all, over 4,000 people will participate in the parade, like past Miss Americas, choirs, dancers, shoe-themed floats, performers, marching bands, special guests, military personnel, and there will be surprise performances along the route.

The two-mile-long parade route runs from Rhode Island Avenue to Albany Avenue. There will be special viewing area right in front of Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall. Then, on Sunday, September 14, the 2015 Miss America Pageant will be held inside of the historic building. Over 200,000 viewers are expected to be lining the parade route to view the event.

Producing the Miss America Show Us Your Shoes Parade will be John M. Best, who is a two-time Emmy Award-winning parade producer. Also, over 500 local volunteers will help ensure that everything involved with the operation of the parade goes off without a hitch. There will be 14 floats in all, 50 dance groups, 15 marching bands and 16 choirs.

There are still some tickets available, but they are going fast. Tickets can be purchased, directly from Miss America.org. Roll-out chairs are already unavailable. General reserved seats are $22.50 while production viewing seats are $39.50. Also, there are Free Zones at various points along the parade route where people can view the happenings for free.

The two Grand Marshals of the Miss America Show Us Your Shoes Parade will be Chris Harrison from ABC’s The Bachelor and Lara Spencer from Good Morning America. The Honorary Grand Marshal will be Atlantic City’s Mayor Don Guardian. The entertaining, fun-filled Miss America Show Us Your Shoes Parade is just one of the many activities leading up to the Miss America Pageant on Sunday, September 14.
